Pretty stoked

Wow do I have a lot of things on the go!  First off I'm pretty stoked to be running a gamma world 1e game tomorrow.  Looks like I have 3 players, first game will be character creation.  I'm going to shoot for every other week for games.

Tonight we raid the dungeons of daghold in Steve C's game, OSE.  This is a weekly old school game that I'm a player in with a bunch of other fun people.  And we are all Canadian! So it's the "BX hoser edition" game eh.

I started working on Prince's no art contest part 2.  https://princeofnothingblogs.wordpress.com/2022/06/25/announcing-no-artpunk-ii-electric-boogaloo/

Hopefully this time around I'll complete it.

As well I've also started a project called "WB adv.odt"  Which is a collection of adventure's I'm trying to write for WBFMAG using Matt Jackson's maps.  http://www.msjx.org/

And speaking of Matt if you check out his blog he's been doing a lot of solo games, and writing up his adventures on the blog.  This got me going down that rabbit hole and I downloaded Notequest, which looks like a lot of fun.

I will likely use my laptop and mipiu for mapping.  Something to do on my day's off.

And lastly, I just caught this on reddit, which is a nice video explaining what the OSR is and why it's cool.

Okay I should probably get my butt in gear and go sell some guitars.

Cheers!

Enconters for Gamma World

*All of the monsters and items are copyright (c) Wizards of the coast 1979.  All rights reserved.  This is a encounter table for use with Gamma World 1st Edition, published by TSR in 1979.  You will require this book to use this table.  I do not claim any rights over the below content.

Looks like I'm going to be running a game on Roll20 once a week.  I'll be using Gamma World 1e, with little to no modifications.  The only thing I'm changing is the tech roll, I'm going to use a homebrew percentile roll rather than the tech table in the book.  Which is basically a game within a game.

I'll probably use discord for voice/chat and roll20 for dice rolls.  Typically I don't use battle maps in roll20, and usually stick with theatre of the mind.  The game is however a bit more tactile, so I may have to use a few maps here and there for fights only.

I have been slowly writing up a few encounters.  While on vacation this week I'm going to write up a few small dungeons.  This should give me a decent amount of gaming.

Note, that I do not own the copyright for Gamma World, and any of the monsters detailed below.  All rights reserved Wizard Of the Coast.

Without further ado, here's the encounters thus far.

1.  Over grown road, huge pile of metal objects covered in vines.  Under the foliage are the remains of a large vehicle (police riot transport).  2 Win Seen cover the area.  HP 46,41 AC 9, SONIC ATT 2D6, CONTACT POISON PARALYZE 14.  Inside the vehicle:  Skeletons with riot gear (sheath armour) AC4, Batons 1d8, med pack (1d6+1).  The Win seen give off a scent that attacks predators to protect them inadvertently.  In 1d6 rounds Dog Pigs show up hungry.  AC 8, 1d6+2 bite, HP 20.  The Dog Pigs are a cross between a wild boar and a rottweiler.

2.  A large metatlic building with no obvious doors.  There is a computer terminal and a metal window screen.  Figuring out the terminal will require a tech roll of 15%.  A blood tester will open the window with food.  Only pure blood humans can operate the blood tester.  If the PCs wait, they will see a PSH green hman se the computer and leave.  (There is a small PSH colony nearby).

3.  A plastic building with overgrown bush.  50 ft above is a metalic road (rail tracks).  There is an elevator inside the building that doesn't work and stairs to get to the landing.  This is basically a train station.  There are tracks that lead west to a military installation and east to a trading city.  A very good chance that there will be a half derailed train somewhere along the tracks.

4.  West of the forest:  The next few miles are open terrain.  A low 3 ft greenish haze covers the area.  Nothing grows, the ground is rocky and treeless.  Radiation Lvl 9 if moving thru it.  Moving around it there will be the following encounters.

Badders AC4, HD6 - Mutant badgers

Zarn AC7 HD4 spits poison.

5.  Old car being pulled by a green large oxen.  Two human men walking alongside.  They are heading east towards the trading city.  (merchant & guard).

Guard:  Sheath armour AC4, HD8, stun rifle

Merchant:  Sheath armour AC4, HD6, dagger.  Mutation:  Double physical pain, poor dual brain (second brain takes over once in awhile, speaks slower).

Treasure:  50 Domars, 4 weeks rations, 4 stim packs, 50 arrows, textiles, office copying machine, pocket television.

Oxen:  Photosynthetic skin, green in colour HD8.

Rumours & Information: Merchant knows of a base to the west, very radioactive but manageable  to get into.  If you skirt the perimeter and  come around from the east.  Lots of humanoids camped nearby.

The rest of their party died, killed by plants in the jungle near a van.

They are willing to pay for guards to get to the city.

6.)    Parn (mutated beetle w/thorns) AC6, HD10, 9 barbed spikes 2d6 dmg, 4 sword arms 3d6 damage.

Parn is feeding on the carcass of a 2 meter long elk.  Nearby is a storage trailer overtuned (semi).  Trailed is locked.  Inside are crates of canned food, jug of gasoline, 100 domars, 2 tear gas grenades.

7.)  Strewn about are the corpses of humanoids. Chewed body parts are everywhere.  One of them has a hand written note detailing a spy operation on the locals (PCs village).  these were archivists, they were killed by Zoopremists.

8.)  Frenzied robot building something large & mechanical made out of scrap metal, car parts, etc.  Robot is very busy and won't answer any questions, just keeps working.  It will only answer "no time, there is no time for this".  He can be reprogrammed with a chip.  Worker Bot AC3 HD9.

9.) Burrowhill:  Large hill with multiple holes, surrounded by wood fencing with spikes.  Home of ground hog mutants, they are standoffish but friendly if offered food.  They can heal players 1d6 hp a day.  AC 9 HD2 daggers/bow & arrows.

10.)  Group of tribesmen - Hiding in trees and bushes, 8 total.  AC6 HD3

Missing google drive files & reorganization

Hey everyone, recently google drive changed the way permissions are done.  Because of this I am continually getting requests for previous files from posts on this blog.  Since this is a bit of a pain in the arse, I've decided to rework the files.  I've been meaning to clear out google drive for a bit anyways, there is a PILE of half started projects on there.  So I started downloading the whole thing and working on re-organizing it all.  What will likely happen is I'm going to prune in and create a one page repository with links when I have some time.  This should make it a lot easier to deal with.

As it stands I think I was at 4 gigs of the 15, most of which was BS.

In other news the baron series is back up on drivethrurpg.

Blue baron series update

The blue baron series was recently pulled from drivethrurpg due to a possible "going against community standards".  I've been in contact with the team and they have approved the titles for *"sale" again.  They found nothing within the books that would be flagged as inappropriate.  As soon as I can find the time I will re-put them back up on drivethru, likely today.

*By sale I mean free.

The "return of the blue baron" is also available for at cost print thru amazon, formerly createspace.  At some point I am going to likely pull it down, I believe there were only about 3 copies printed that way.  You are more than welcome to print it yourself if you like.  Since the change over from createspace to whatever it is now, it is extremely difficult to login and adjust things.  I love how that make it difficult to deal with this stuff!

As far as completing the trilogy,  I'm going to go on record as saying it is unlikely to happen.  I am still feeling the effects of trying to complete the "return of the blue baron".  It was a difficult process for me, which caused a lot of anxiety.  Considering the entire project is free and a collaborative idea, it should have been much easier.

As I've previously mentioned I am unlikely to do much actual publishing moving forward, other than on the blog.  Of course stranger things have happened.

Thanks for being understanding.  Here is the link to the 3 toadstools stuff on dtrpg.

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/6654/3-Toadstools?term=3+toadstools

Next up on the blog, I am going to post about Gamma World house rules and a few other ideas.

Coming soon.

Home brew mutant future campaign

A long time ago I ran a brief Mutant future campaign for some friends.   I had done a PILE of prep with locations factions etc, my intention at some point was to release it.  At the time I think everything that I wrote I was "going to release", which was a silly thought.  I decided I'm going to release it here, over the course of a few blogposts.  Hopefully I can get a bit more indepth into the world I created.  Here's the start of it.

The adventures take place in the frozen wastes of Manitoba.  I had condensed a map to add in a few towns that we have been to in IRL and the city I'm in.  The starting point village was the town of Gimli (which has a lot of Viking roots).  There is a statue of an Icelandic adventurer in the town.  I ended up modelling the starting village inhabitants around Icelandic culture, the God's they believed in, etc.  I decided that the ancients had passed down books from Libraries with the information that they started to incorporate.

From wikipedia

Gimli is notable for its Icelandic culture and celebrates this locally unique heritage throughout the year and the community of Gimli.[23] A popular sight in the town is the pier which extends from the downtown shoreline out onto Lake Winnipeg and features the Gimli Seawall Gallery, a cement wall 977 feet (298 m) long featuring 72 murals which depict the history and stories of the community.[24]

The town was basically surrounded by a half ring dike of old cars (similar to new vegas), the rest of the town was protected by the north shore of frozen Lake Winnipeg.

I had made the decision that the inhabitants of Gimli were a bit further advanced than what Gamma World suggests (basically tribesmen).  They had access to solar power, and had an underground farming community.  One of the biggest needs from the village was obtaining more solar panels and maintaining the current infrastructure.  Trade was in goods scavenged, water, food and other necessities.

Faction wise, there was the "brotherhood of steel" basically, the RCMP.  Or at least skewed facsimile of the RCMP.  These were the peace keepers and protectors of the lands.  They were also obsessed with technology and hoarded it (Like the brotherhood).  Most of the RCMP were mutated animals, being led by a Polar Bear (Because Canada).

Close by was also the "Collector", who is an exact duplicate of the Collector from Guardians of the galaxy.  Another person obsessed with tech, and wonders of the ancient world.  He pays big caps for items.   The collector's base was an old military installation that had been retrofitted.  Upon a hill surrounded by fences, security droids, machine gun installs, etc.  An elevator would get you down into the lower levels.  The only way to get in was by invitation.  The PCs were tasked with smuggling tech out of Gimli to the collector.  Of course the town is guarded by the watchful eye of the RCMP.

The children of the atom (another rip off! well hey it's my game so whatever).  These people are actually pure breeds that live underground away from the harsh elements.  Their entire culture is based around be completely slammed.   In their community they grow mushrooms and other mind bending drugs and waste their time pondering philosophy and the cosmos.

Pure Alliance; direct from the Mutant Future book, these people are obsessed with capturing pure breed humans and experimenting on them.

Slavers:  Slavers hunt the world looking for all manner of humans and the like to work in mines, be shipped off to fighting pits.  They have an uneasy alliance with the Pures and sell off any pure breds they find.

The Big Bang!

I hadn't quite decided on the year, but it wasn't in the far distant future.  Maybe 2050 everything went for shit.  What happened was that the Cern super collider had an accident, a catastrophic failure.  Preceding the utter destruction of the collider sent the world into chaos, warning systems for nuclear weapons went on the fritz and launched because of the huge earthquake that happened.  The world was turned upside down.  Manitoba was hit with Soviet and American nukes, one of the largest bases is just south of Manitoba in North Dakota.  Winnipeg the largest city in Manitoba is a complete wasteland.   In Winnipeg is a disease control laboratory (true).  During the events, the lab was destroyed and diseases went amuk, creating Zombies and other unnatural combinations.  What is left of the city is a nightmare.

The adventure started off with the PCs being tied to a cart by the Slavers.  The RCMP fight off the slavers and release the PCs.  They send them off in the direction of Gimli.  In the cart is a large container with weapons and armour (a nice little random table with starting equipment).

Location wise:
Not far from Gimli in real life is an army base, A abandoned hydro electric dam with Morlocks, An old mine in a small town, Further away is a bigger army base filled with all kinds of nasty mutated things, A crashed airplane filled with Convicts from the south (likely being dropped off in the wastes of Canada).

This was the basics.  A lot of it was very fallout inspired as that is one of my only real references for post apoc.

My osr addiction

When I first discovered the osr, blogging and gplus I was super hooked.  It was the escape I needed for a long time, it gave me fuel to work on creating.

Since the death of gplus I've just ran games and not created much.  Other than things for myself.  Creating out of necessity.

Lately I've been happy just playing in a game weekly, and I love it.

Sure I spend some time here and there plotting my next campaign and then quickly disregard it for the next idea.  When there was a whole world daily with new posts to read , think about and riff on it fed the addiction.  I'm sure this still happens with other bloggers in the sphere.

I've been searching for my next "all in addiction....err past time".  I haven't found it yet .  Maybe I'm content? I dunno.  Content with gaming that's for sure.

I'll run another game, just not sure when.  I'll probably write more silly stuff and post it here, just not sure when.

I'm probably a bit exhausted to be honest.  Not from games, but other things .
