Blue baron series update

The blue baron series was recently pulled from drivethrurpg due to a possible "going against community standards".  I've been in contact with the team and they have approved the titles for *"sale" again.  They found nothing within the books that would be flagged as inappropriate.  As soon as I can find the time I will re-put them back up on drivethru, likely today.

*By sale I mean free.

The "return of the blue baron" is also available for at cost print thru amazon, formerly createspace.  At some point I am going to likely pull it down, I believe there were only about 3 copies printed that way.  You are more than welcome to print it yourself if you like.  Since the change over from createspace to whatever it is now, it is extremely difficult to login and adjust things.  I love how that make it difficult to deal with this stuff!

As far as completing the trilogy,  I'm going to go on record as saying it is unlikely to happen.  I am still feeling the effects of trying to complete the "return of the blue baron".  It was a difficult process for me, which caused a lot of anxiety.  Considering the entire project is free and a collaborative idea, it should have been much easier.

As I've previously mentioned I am unlikely to do much actual publishing moving forward, other than on the blog.  Of course stranger things have happened.

Thanks for being understanding.  Here is the link to the 3 toadstools stuff on dtrpg.

Next up on the blog, I am going to post about Gamma World house rules and a few other ideas.

Coming soon.

Return to the Blue Baron's Palace?

It's almost getting to that time of year, when I message a bunch of people and say "let's do a collaborative dungeon!".  Well technically I've only done it once, but it's been on my mind.  Specifically a sequel.

I had a few rambling ideas about what the sequel could be. (Once again while walking to work, and it was cold! Forced march for about 2 miles..... I dunno how D&D characters do it in the cold).

1.  The court wizard Nhoj inadvertently released a bunch of beasties into the castle.
2.  The blue baron has died, and one of his daughters has taken up the reins. She's cruel, and likes to kidnap random peasants and use them in weird torture games.
3.  The blue baron is well and good, however one of his daughter's has been kidnapped and thrown into a new dungeon.
4.  The crazy Scottish bagpipe playing goblin is going on tour! He needs an escort.
5.  The baron's enemies have had enough of his tax dodging, they have locked him away in the dungeon and have usurped his throne.
6.  The magical library in the basement has become such a major attraction, that the dungeon is filled with all sorts of tourists.  It's time to clean them out, and of course there are a few bad guys in there for good measure, trying to steal relics.
7.   The queen has fallen ill, she needs someone to find rare herbs to help heal her.
8.  Nhoj in his infinite wisdom has decided to hold a spellcasting competition, wizards from the countryside have come to compete.  The prize is 5000 GPs to the winner.

Obviously there's a few of the usual tropes in here.

If you got any ideas I'm more than willing to listen!

As a side note, If I do this again, a hexcrawl would be interesting.  Alternatively if it takes place in the same dungeon, I think I'll do a new map.  And then come up with some random explanation as to how it changed! hahah.

If you don't know about the blue baron you can download it here.

If I wind up doing this again, it'll be in January.

More blue baron on youtube courtesy of God Emperor Leto II

I just caught this, which I'm guessing is the fifth installment of the play through of the Blue Baron.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br18lwfviZw

After the finding the magical telescope in a room in the dungeon of the Blue Baron, our party attempts to make a lucrative business deal that will set them up on easy street...or so they think. There are many people in Blueholme who want to keep their riches for themselves and will make sure our party does not advance beyond their station.

In case you would like to follow the exploits of the brave hero's in the Blue Barons Dungeon/Party, here are the links.

To the right is a pay pal tip jar.  I just added it.  If you like the posts on 3 Toadstools and would like to drop me a dollar for enjoying the read you are more than welcome to.  However you don't have to, in fact it's entirely fine if you don't.  I really just wanted to point it out.  Thank you.

PPS:  The new adventure is coming along, and I'm hoping it will be done by the end of the month.  It will feature a Dyson Logos map, text by me, and it will be for Blueholme.  I am playing around with a 4x6 layout, however I've found that it really doesn't do justice to the awesome map, so I will probably go ahead and do it 6x9.  Which coincidentally is perfect on a tablet.

Actual play awesome "an invitation from the blue baron"

On Saturday morning I got a message from +Michael Thomas tagging me in an actual play of "An Invitation from the blue baron".  I started watching a bit of it, then promptly went off to a small comic con where I got an awesome deal on some old D&D books.  I'll be posting about that awesome find tomorrow.

This actual play was done by +God Emperor Leto II and a group of players via hangouts.  I have to say that God Emperor Leto is an awesome DM! Just watching him, he does all kinds of cool voices, he knows the rules inside and out which is great.  (this is one reason why playing old school stuff is so much fun, the rules are easy to learn, and when you are not sure you can just make a ruling).

The cool thing about this video is that it shows how much the Blue Baron lends itself to role playing.  (Spoiler) in the two hours of this video, there isn't one fight.  Just a orc bitch slap.

I can't wait to watch the next one.  My wife and I curled up on Saturday evening after we got back from comic con and watched this whole thing.  It was great! The players & DM did an awesome job.

I also filtered thru a few of God Emperor Leto's other videos on his channel, he did an excellent one about Blueholme, and "why he records videos".

Here is his channel.

DOWNLOAD - An Invitation From The Blue Baron

HERE'S THE DOWNLOAD:  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-hlnlR7qn5XSjRiS0FHSnBWYkE

This wonderful forty four page adventure that you hold in your hands was written for Blueholme Prentice rules ™.  The book was a collaborative effort between some of the brightest minds in the Old School Role Playing community.  Detailed within this book is a twenty two room dungeon, new monsters & spells, and all kinds of interesting twists.  The Blue Baron holds his masquerade party annually, and because of this we have added a pile of random tables, which should easily allow replaying this adventure with different results! Grab a few sets of dice, some pencils, paper and few friends and delve into the masquerade.

A bit of disturbing news has crossed my desk.  It seems that a plot may in fact be a foot.  While I would like to detail all of the information within this letter, I would prefer to speak with you in person.  A fortnight from today, please meet me on the stairs leading to the dungeons of the Blue Baron.  I hazard to guess that you haven’t been living under a rock, and know full well that every year the Blue Baron throws a rather distinct masquerade ball.  Obviously you will be compensated for your efforts.  Consider yourselves cordially invited.
