I've been thinking a lot about the "OSR" and "Community" lately. Specifically my community. I've made some good friends over the years, I've cultivated my friends list on mewe, and facebook to be tailored to people I actually want to have conversations with.
As such I think that this blog is slowly going to change. It's not really going to be about promoting people, reviews, etc. It's going to become even more tailored to my personal experience, my ideas. In reality, that's my OSR. Having conversations about what I'm upto, what ideas I have, thoughts, experiences etc. I think that the 3 Toadstools, is going to get even closer to what I talk about on my anchor podcast (if not a duplicate in some cases). I had a super fun time gaming with Matt the other day, which lead to some gaming mechanic ideas I started working on.
I'm done with all of the outside "OSR Community". The community at large if you will.
If you want to be part of my community, great, if you don't that's cool. Some days it might just be me talking about something that has me excited, and that's cool.
Further, even though there's some places to have discussions (mewe, facebook, twitter), I think that as time goes on bloggin is going to be my number one place to do so.
I am still on the fence as to whether 3 toadstools is going to move to a different platform (wordpress), or if it will just stay here. I'm a bit of a procrastinator. Part of me says "hey move this shit over and make sure you don't loose anything". The other part of me thinks "fuck it, if it gets deleted start over".
For the mean time, you can find me here.
I am in agreement with you, Shane. I don't think i've ever understood what all the kerfuffle was. Just be yourself. I'll follow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angry Monk. :) I appreciate it. As I stated in the new year I think I'm going to to do the following: Head Down, Write, Save Money, and work on myself.
DeleteGood move, Shane. I've been thinking along those lines lately, though it'll just be mewe for me. Less drama (so far, anyway) and I get the feeling that the people deciding to connect with me over there actually had an interest in doing so beyond collecting clout. Most of the time. Here's to more working, more publishing, more writing, less shit-flinging apes (unless they are in a game, then more of that, please).
ReplyDeleteI Am Finding Mewe Like That As Well. (sorry my tablet keeps capatilizing my first sentence tonight) . I like the idea of keeping my list down to interesting people and ones I interact with. as you say instead of collecting. as a side note, I'm thinking mutant apes in mutant future could be interesting. Thanks For The Comments And Conversation I Appreciate It.
DeleteThere has to be stuff here you don’t want to lose, though. At least download a backup copy...even if you never read it.
ReplyDeleteI Intend To.
DeleteIt’s kind of weird to think there’s all these people who are talking about stuff other than making and playing games. All the personalities-and-products stuff never interested me so much.
ReplyDeleteI just wanna play and make and play.
Honestly I’ve been blindsided by all the cult of personality stuff going on.
Exactly, Scott. I don't get all the drama.
DeleteHey do you have a blog
DeleteNot really. I should. Do you?
DeleteYes. The very best part is the blogroll full of OSR bloggers! I try to keep it up to date with everyone’s blogs which is why I ask.
DeleteTreasurehuntershq.blogspot.com
Even if you’re not thrilled with anything I write you will find 150 other OSR blogs to follow in the sidebar
I will definitely add you to my blog list. Thanks!
DeleteIf you build a blog lemme know angry monk.
DeleteScott, your original post = yes exactly. and this is what I'm starting to realize. there was and is and has been so much shit. I'm done being apart of that. last night I started handwriting up some fun character gen tables.
DeleteScott Did You Add Your Blog To THIS? https://campaignwiki.org/osr/
DeleteShane, I did, but it's only going to track posts that are OSR related and tagged as such. I also share my fiction writing, so that's not everyone's cup of tea
DeleteRight, I totally didn't realize that it was based on tags. I Need To Read More Of Your Fiction When I Have Time (that's the plan at lunch Tommorow)
DeleteI've Been Blindsided by the same stuff scott. another reason for this post.
DeleteIf you want I can send you my first manuscript. I don’t think I will ever publish it. It’s a complete novel but I want to redo the ending a little.
DeleteI will be publishing my second novel this year on April 30th which is a huge thrill.
I mean, my second manuscript will be my first published novel.
DeleteWhat format is it in Scott? I'm going on a vacation soon, and I'm looking for reading material.
DeleteIt’s going to be available in kindle and paperback for $3.99/$10.99 USD
DeleteWill do, Shane.
ReplyDeleteI like MeWe and I like we are friends there. I will visit here more often, then.
ReplyDeleteI Like That We Are Friends There As Well. I intend to stick with mewe and this blog.

ReplyDeleteSorry about that, had bad autocorrect issues. I really enjoy your blig, so please notify us if you move.
ReplyDeleteAll good Denis. And thanks! I appreciate that you are a reader. I will put up a post saying "Go here", as my last post basically. I am still on the fence about switching. But who knows with google right. I mean they may just pull it. As a side note, I got a letter from them the other day, apparently the three toadstools has made $13 from adsense! hahaha. Of course, the payment threshold is $100.
